Those who fancy filling rucksacks
with sandwiches and some drinks and getting the family out for a walk could not find a better time to do it than this Easter, it has been suggested.
The Ramblers is putting on a series of organized short walks for all the family and those keen to get active over the long bank holiday weekend may appreciate the chance to join in.
Ramblers chief executive Tom Franklin said the break is the "perfect time" to venture outdoors in the sunshine after the long, cold winter, adding: "Fun, low-cost and packed full of adventure, walking is a great way to get talking to the family and helps you all get that bit fitter too."
The last of these factors may be useful for those who have had a chocolate egg too many, he suggested.
People putting on walking boots
and heading for the Peak District this weekend have been warned by the national park authority to be wary of any actions that could trigger moorland fires, with the peat being tinder dry after the recent sunny weather.
