The winner of the best photo prize in the Dartmoor Winning Landscapes Competition has been announced.
Dartmoor National Park Authority revealed the finest snap was of a barn at Emsworthy by Phil Hemsley from Totnes, with the panel noting the contrast between its bright red roof and the bare autumnal landscape around it, including several bare trees, backed by grey clouds.
A picture showing the line of the ridge from the rocks of Higher Tor came second, while a hawthorn tree standing alone in a field full of bluebells on a sunny day was third.
Those who like to go walking
in the south of England may be more tempted to visit the national park and enjoy its landscapes for themselves.
Walkers aiming for the highest point may visit the High Willhays and Yes Tor Ridge near Okehampton, where the former summit marks the loftiest spot in southern England at 2,039 ft above sea level.
