Lancaster City Council is encouraging locals to put on their cycle gear
and explore a new coast-to-coast route.
Called the Way of the Roses, this 180-mile stage links Morecambe and Bridlington and is set to open at some point later this year.
However, locals are invited to don their cycling clothing
and experience the route before it opens to the rest of the public.
This Saturday (July 10th), cycling enthusiasts will have the chance to sample the first 35 miles from Morecambe to Settle.
Those keen to tackle it should be warned that there are some hills along the way and a reasonable level of fitness is required, while beginners and children are advised that it may be too much for them.
Rachel Scott, cycling demonstration town project manager, said recently that increasing numbers of people are enjoying cycling holidays and that the Way of the Roses is likely to become a popular haunt sooner rather than later.
