The way national parks are run could change under new government plans, which were published yesterday (May 20th), something that could benefit those who like to go walking
Under details of the coalition agreement between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, the environmental policy section stated: "We will review the governance arrangements of National Parks in order to increase local accountability."
Such a situation could help people from the outdoors fraternity to develop policies that are more friendly to their needs, including better facilities and access to attractive countryside areas.
Reporting on the document, Grough noted that there was no tax break included to help mountain rescue teams.
However, Liberal Democrat MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale Tim Farron told the news provider this may still happen.
Earlier this week, the Lake District National Park Authority revealed that two televised shows will be held at which park bosses can be grilled by visitors and other members of the public about their plans for the area up to 2015.
