Many people who like to go walking
in the Yorkshire Dales will be familiar with its broad range of wildflowers.
This will be the subject of an upcoming celebration throughout the year - the Flowers of the Dales Festival
Organised by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, it runs between March and November and will include more than 130 different events.
Tanya St Pierre, project officer for Flowers of the Dales, commented: "The festival
is one of our proudest achievements, encouraging thousands of people every year to get out and about in the glorious Dales landscape and appreciate the beautiful wildflowers."
Among the activities being staged is a series of guided walks that are designed to suit different levels of expertise.
However, organisers have urged visitors who are keen to take part to make sure they are properly equipped before setting off.
In particular, it stressed that "sturdy" walking shoes with a good grip will be required.
