Campers in Cumbria have been warned to be on their guards after some have had items stolen from their
tents.
Inspector Richard Quinn from Cumbria Constabulary's Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team noted crime levels in Cumbria are "low", but said the summer months are marked by "opportunist criminals" taking items.
He added: "Criminals want an easy life, so don't give them any opportunity to target you or your family. Secure valuable items or at the very least hide them from view."
Mountain Bikes are also a common target for thieves, so those taking them to campsites should make sure they have the equipment to secure them with, Inspector Quinn remarked.
The force will be giving advice to campers on-site about their security this summer.
People staying in
tents at the upcoming
Glastonbury Festival have been advised to keep their valuables well concealed by the Fine Guide for this year's event.
It also notes there are lockers available for people to store items in for safekeeping.
