Those who like to go walking in the New Forest may be able to make the most of any pictures they take.

A competition has been launched by the national park authority and is aimed at finding the "dream view" of the New Forest. It runs until October 22nd 2010.

Director of information and visitor services at the authority Martin O'Neill said: "We want people to take pictures of what they love most about this special place and for them to capture their 'dream' view."

The first prize in the contest will be £500, with £250 for second and £100 for third, while the top under-16s snap will earn a prize of £150.

Other prizes on offer include special days out with Forestry Commission staff.

Those donning their walking shoes to explore the New Forest can now study the national park plan, which sets out the future of the area for the next 20 years.

Earlier this month, the authority made the document available, noting that it had been devised after numerous public meetings over the previous three years.
