Those who love to jump on mountain bikes
and hurtle through the Cairngorms countryside have been given a boost by news that the national park authority has passed a plan for a new centre for the sport near Tomintoul.
It will consist of two trails, of 6.5 and 12 miles in length, with these being based at Carn Meilich and Carn Daimh in the Glenlivet Estate.
National park board member and local councillor in Moray Allan Wright said he was pleased with the development.
He added: "If the bike trails are as good as we're being told, mountain bikers will travel far for the experience."
The centre will also have a cafe, information centre and toilets, with the trails themselves stipulated to be no wider than 1.2 metres to help preserve the landscape.
Existing mountain biking opportunities in the national park include the Rothiemurchus Forest trails, where locally-hired bikes can be used to explore the area.
