More people could be set to put on some walking boots
and winter jackets
after a private healthcare group called on consumers to enjoy the great outdoors.
Bupa is collaborating with walking charity the Ramblers to promote the health benefits of travelling on foot.
Robert McKinnon, head of marketing at the Ramblers, commented: "Walking is a great way to keep in shape."
He said the charity hopes members of Bupa will join it and "discover the friendship, fresh air and fitness that comes with getting outside and walking".
Sue Moore, Bupa's marketing and customer development director, added that the healthcare provider is "always looking" for ways to enable people to adopt healthier lifestyles.
The organisation believes walking can help to stave off various illnesses, improve physical fitness and tackle stress.
This comes after the Ramblers began working with the government to promote walking as a good means of getting around London throughout next summer's Olympic Games.
