Julia Bradbury has listed walking in the Peak District as one of her favourite pastimes.
In an interview published in the Northern Rail magazine, the TV presenter of Wainwright Walks and Countryfile noted that she grew up in Sheffield and her father was from Derbyshire.
"For me the Peak District is one of my favourite places - and the Monsal Trail one of my favourite walks".
She related that she was "lucky" enough to be able to put on her
walking boots and do the Monsal Trail again in the Railway Walks series.
The magazine noted that the Northern Rail network serves the area of the Monsal trail through its trains running to Buxton.
People keen to go by rail to the Peak District for a day's walking may also enjoy taking a trip from either the Manchester or Sheffield sides down the Hope Valley line, which stops at places like Edale, the start point of the Pennine Way.
