A couple who have donned their hiking boots
to take on Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast walk have been in good mountain company along the way, being joined by Chris Bonington.
The Everest climber, who lives in the Lake District, teamed up with mountain rescuers Judy Whiteside and Gail Todd on their fundraising trek to walk the part of the trail between Rosthwaite in Borrowdale and Grasmere, Grough reports.
Judy Whiteside, who edits Mountain Rescue magazine, said there is more to the walk than just hitting the £5,000 sponsorship target.
She said: "To raise our target amount would be fantastic but we're also wanting to let more people know about the invaluable work of mountain rescue teams."
An evening meal being enjoyed by the walkers was interrupted when the Keswick team had a callout.
Those taking on the Coast-to-Coast walk may need good walking trousers
and sturdy rucksacks
to carry all their gear.
Its highest point is the 2,172 ft summit of Nine Standards Rigg in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
