The Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (Shaff) starts today (March 12th), with a weekend of inspirational footage that could send people dashing to their nearest Go Outdoors store to stock up on climbing gear
, cycling clothing
or a trekking pole
It is being held at the Showroom on Paternoster Row, the largest independent cinema in the UK outside London and a venue just minutes away from the city's Go Outdoors store on Bramhall Lane.
Cycling, skiing, rock climbing and surfing are included in the films, the first of which begins at 19:00 GMT tonight, with the last to be shown at 19:00 GMT on March 14th, followed by the Shaff film awards at 20:00 GMT.
Climbing films include some premieres, such as First Ascent - the Impossible Climb, all about the inaugural climb of a new route up Clark Mountain in California.
Last weekend saw the Llanberis Mountain Film Festival take place, offering talks, exhibitions and films about mountaineering in a location situated at the foot of Snowdon.
