excellent Jacket but a snug fit, 08 December 2016
By sam (liverpool)
Ordered the jacket in a medium. As a previous reviewer stated the fit in the arms and the top half of the jacket is perfect but the bottom is very tight. I am assuming this is the way the jacket should fit because despite the tightness I was able to move around without feeling restricted. I sent the jacket back with no issues and exchanged it for a large and the jacket now is a much more comfortable fit. Overall the jacket is great, very lightweight and stylish and the fact the it packs into it's own pocket is a nice touch. I would definitely recommend jacket but would advise ordering 2 sizes or going into a go outdoor store to try it on first
Mountain Equipment Men's Arete Hooded Jacket, 08 December 2016
By stav (tyne and wear)
bought this to use as a upgrade to my winter walking and outdoor sleep system as a warm outer mid layer, its basic as in very warm and a good fit its xxl im 6 ft odd and 17 st so i went a size bigger and its snug enough to do the job.my other jacket is a rab ascent which has a few technical advantages, overall this is warm and very light and packs down small into its own pocket for a pillow, no inside pockets and zip a little unbulky which could be irritating when cold and in a hurry but overall a good bit of kit , not too short either and good to wear around town with just a t shirt on
Odd Size and Cut - Disappointing, 07 December 2016
By Glyn (South Yorkshire)
I ordered a medium online (ME say to fit size 40" to 42"), as I am a 40" chest. However, the product was incredibly tight and small. Arm and body length were good, but the fit across the back and shoulders was way too tight. To the point where I would split the jacket with basic movements. I appreciate the fashion today is for a tight cut, but this has been taken to the extreme with this jacket, even before any layers underneath. Sent back to Go Outdoors, who were great as ever.

Mountain Equipment Arete Hooded Jacket, 11 October 2016
By Gareth (stockport)
i was served by Mark at the Stockport branch, very open and helpful member of staff. We had a good chat about the different Down Jackets on offer (they have a great selection!). In the winter i am a ski instructor and this jacket will more than likely be used most days of the season. Not used it too much yet but it is incredibly lightweight and packable. It also surprisingly offers water resistance which is a real bonus. Thanks again Mark!
