When Trail Magazine names a jacket 'Best In Test' for three years running, you know it's been put through it's paces.
The Mountain Equipment Kongur Men's Jacket has been designed to handle the worst conditions you could want to face, from snow blizzards to rain storms that you have nightmares about. This is the only jacket to ever score 50 out of 50 in the 'Ultimate Waterproof' test.
The Stealth construction and 3-layer GORE-TEX Pro Shell Ascendor fabric is key in making this one of the best waterproofs around.
But comfort hasn't been forgotten: a microfleece inner collar, chin guard, slim double centre front storm flaps and a long mountain cut provide the total protection and warmth that you demand.
At a slender 550g, the Kongur isn't holding any extra bulk- although it can hold yours- with 2 large chest pockets (rucksack and harness compatible) and 2 external map pockets with hidden access areas.

bought last august and worn 5 or 6 times and 3 over the xmas period its first wet test you could say. at first noticed water just soaked in didnt even attempt to run off second there was the pockets cos all they are missing are straws so they can be used as hydration bottles cos they just love collecting water for you more than you would expect and then theres the pit zips that are only anygood if the rain is perfectly vertical and you walk upright stiff as a board cos the seals on the zips bend and open up. shame really cos i love mountain equipment gear but looks like im going back to the 6 year water tight changabang for now!!

Had this jacket for under a year, not used unless for extreme weather in Scotland and it is now leaking through shoulders, arms and there was puddles in the pockets. Only wore it at that time for approx 4 hours. My climbing budy had the same jacket but 1 year older and the same happened to him. Will not buy another one.

The hood gave good visibility and didnt let in any rain. The pockets let me carry everything to hand to save me reaching in to my rucksack. The jacket is a large and that's generally my size but there was enough room for me to move around without the sleeves rising up or the body of the jacket restricting me. The vents worked a treat and I didn't sweat up like I did with my older, cheaper jacket. On drier days it's lightness meant it didn't take up much space or weight in my rucksack. Highly recommended.
