A technical alpine jacket with zoned fleece, roomy pockets and unrestrictive design - now available in web exclusive colours.
Constructed from POLARTEC® Thermal Pro® Honeycomb with POLARTEC® Classic Micro in the side and elbow panels, Montane's Volt Alpiniste Jacket is like their Volt Jacket but tailored more for mountain use.
POLARTEC® Thermal Pro® Honeycomb gives outstanding warmth for its very low weight, while the POLARTEC® Classic Micro gives just enough insulation to be effective without feeling bulky.
Designed to keep you warm without hindering your movement, it has articulated arms that let you reach high without the sleeve riding up or your hem lifting, and roomy pockets that let yuu warm your hands and carry your kit. The pockets are positioned so as to remain accessible even if you're wearing a pack with a harness.
- Fully adjustable mountain hood with face aperture adjustment and wired peak
- Two mesh lined map-sized chest pockets, two deep hand-warmer pockets lined with a fine microfleece mesh
- Full length, reversed and baffled two way YKK reverse coil front zip
- Brushed fine microfleece on inner collar (next to mouth and chin)
- Low profile cuffs, easily pulled up forearms to aid cooling
- Adjustable hem stops cold air getting in or heat escaping

Excellent quality, 15 November 2016
By Dave (somerset)
Bought this as a mid layer in winter and outer layer in Autumn. As an outer layer in Autumn it is warm, the hood is an excellent fit and makes you feel really snug, it isn't wind proof so on a windy day you can feel the wind through it. As a winter mid layer it is excellent I have just come back from Iceland where I wore it under a soft shell in temperatures around freezing and with the wind and sleet/snow it felt a lot colder, but the jacket helped to keep me feeling nice a warm. The overall quality is excellent and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality fleece jacket, it is expensive but i guess you get what you pay for.
Strong breeze not wind proof, 02 April 2016
By SRB (Penrith)
Agree with other reviewers that in any proper winter wind this is not wind proof. However, wear it as a midlayer with a hard or softshell outer layer and we are talking a seriously warm and comfortable to wear fleece. The sizing is accurate with the small fitting my 38/39 chest like a glove and perfect sleeve length even though I have slightly long arms. Washes well (following the care instructions) and shows no signs of shrinkage or loss of shape after 5 months of ownership. Could arguably be sold at a slightly cheaper price as it is definitely more of a technical midlayer fleece than an outer jacket. But I expect that it will perform well as an outer layer as the warmer weather comes.
Could do with better wind proofing, 30 November 2015

Very nice looking mid layer, excellent fit, and quality.Seems pretty warm when worn with a base layer not quite wind proof enough for the price.. Found it cheaper on line and with go outdoors price match + 10% off made it justifiable.
not windproof, 18 February 2015
By Des Fletcher (Taunton)
nice looking fleece for sure, you will need under layers as this is not windproof, i wore just a t-shirt under it couple of weeks ago and i was chilled, could feel cold air coming through the material, with a couple of layers its okish, definitlly not worth £112...£80 maybe
