With a full front reversed and baffled two-way zip the body can be fully ventilated in warmer conditions and easily closed in colder conditions, ideal for changeable weather and multiple expeditions in all seasons.
To keep your head and neck protected the North Star jacket has roll-away hood with wired peak, which is also climbing helmet compatible for complete protection.
The adjustable draw cord hem, and the elasticated cuffs provide a closer fit to the body adding extra warmth in cold conditions.
Because the details count, the North Star Jacket features a Montane logo in a safe and visible reflective trim, as well as 2 zipped hand pockets and a chest pocket for storage on the move.

Montane North Star, great jacket, 28 December 2010
By ChrisC (Manchester)
My first down jacket, the Montane North Star has lived up to my expectations. Despite seemingly weighing next to nothing the North Star certainly does keep you warm in the most extreme of conditions. It has stood up well to -15degreesC so far! I was a bit sceptical about the waterproofing qualities but it has survived some good rain showers so far and drys quite quickly. The elasicated cuffs are great for keeping your arms warm and the pockets really do keep your hands warm too. The hood looks and acts great too, be it rolled up or out. The only negatives I have found is it is a bit tricky to zip up sometimes (a bit firm) and The material is very easily snagged (meaning you might lose some feathers). Overall I would highly recommend this jacket as it performs and looks great.

Quality Jacket, 28 September 2010

I'm very happy with my new purchase of Montane's North Star Jacket. It is very warm, and fits well. Quality is good, and looks the part. Lofts well, and the stuff sac makes the whole package very portable. Hood is excellent, and easily adjustable. Don't hesitate to add this one to your gear.

warm down jacket yet packs tight and light, 26 January 2010
By celtic walker (Wexford)
This down jacket works perfectly when camped or at rest stops to keep warm. It packs away into the 5l dry sack provided and once taken out lofts up with 1 or 2 shakes to a cozy windproof outer. Nice when you've reached the top of the mountain to sit in warmth and comfort and veiw the scene. The grown on hood has snug, one hand adjustable, anti-whip draw cords and wired peak. The draw cord hem is also easily adjustable. 2 high pockets that lie above the hip belt with zip security and a large chest pocket that will take a map with zip closure. The cuffs are velcro adjustable and elasticated also so no snow slips in. A sturdy 2 way front zip and down filled baffle keeps the wind out from the front. It also looks just as good around town.
