Warmth and weather protection for the mountains - or anywhere cold and windy.

The Montane Flux Jacket has been designed for moving fast in cold mountain conditions.

With a DWR-treated Pertex outer face, and dual-layered PRIMALOFT® insulation, it's water-resistant and completely windproof, while retaining good breathability - in short, it will keep you comfortable in cold and windy conditions all day long. When the weather improves the Flux stuffs into its own right hand pocket to save space in your pack.

The Montane Flux Jacket's 100g and 60g PRIMALOFT® insulation is layered in such a way as to maximise insulation without compromising comfort. Double thick at the chest pockets, thick on the body but thinner at the hood and arms, the Flux Jacket is super packable, windproof and exceptionally fast drying.

A rollaway hood with wired peak, volume adjuster and single-hand operated non-whip face aperture drawcords, with a DWR Beardguard lined collar, will keep you shielded from the elements. Two handwarmer pockets are placed conveniently clear from your waist belt or harness, and the glove compatible cuffs feature mitt-grab tabs. Subtle SCOTCHLITE™ reflective detailing will help to keep you visible in poor light.

Tested on the bigwalls of Patagonia's Fitzroy, the Montane Flux Jacket will stand up to some of the most changeable weather conditions on earth.

Jack of all trades, 11 December 2016
By Lostsheep (Darlington)
Over the past Two winters I have been using the updated Montane Flux jacket. It blurs the line between mountain jacket and around camp insulation, and because of that, it’s seen a good bit of use.
The biggest difference between the original Flux and this version is that there’s more insulation in this, and that’s made it more usable through winter. It’s still quite light in insulation compared to some winter jackets, but the tailored fit means less air gaps to heat and therefore it’s more efficient, and I do feel the warmth when I pull it on.
The insulation is stitched onto the shell in a few places, giving a quilted appearance. There’s been some debate about whether this is actually doing anything in a technical way. From my perspective, any insulation works best in specific parameters of loft or density, so a little “control” on it seems like a good idea. Whatever, it helps keep the jacket neat and low-profile.
The front has four pockets, which you might find on a bigger belay-type jacket, but it’s unusual on a lighter insulator. The side hand warmers put your hands in between layers of insulation so you don’t bleed heat from inside the jacket, the two napoleon pockets have the same arrangement but are also big and deep enough to stow a good bit of kit on the move and keep your meths warm.
The hood is good, and will fit over other layers but can be a little snug under a water proof. It does roll down and fasten with a hook and loop.
Detailing is good, there’s a wide insulated baffle behind the two-way main zip, velcro adjustable cuffs, hood/collar and hem draw cords and a unobtrusive smattering of reflective detailing. The napoleon pockets have small zipper garages which is a good touch.
The fit is subjective of course, but the arms are are nice and long, the body has a decent length and it’s good width for pulling on over a couple of light layers. The mobility is also brilliant without feeling baggy, it’s been designed to be worn when you’re active.
The outer fabric has proved good in both rain and snow, and yes, it dries quick. weight wise it comes in at a little over 600g for a medium.

Warm and well thought out jacket, 24 February 2016
By Cuberider54 (Hampshire)
This overlaying belay jacket is the Montane Prism's thicker warmer brother. Therefore, you need to pick what layers you are going to wear underneath and select size accordingly. I had the same sizing issues as some other reviewers, which is something I find with Montane in general. Definitely try on before buying as their size guide is quite precise. I'm a 41" chest and 36" (ish) waist, and normally a large, but in this I fell between L and XL. There was not a lot in it, but I got the XL for a bit more room and mobility. I took a thick Rab baselayer with me to try on with the jacket. The large was OK around the chest, but (unsurprisingly) a bit tight round the tummy. On to the features. The arms are a sensible length and easy to adjust with the Velcro cuffs. The hood stowage process is a bit Heath Robinson. It could have done with a velco tab like the Rab Genarator. The zips are substantial and very smooth to operate with one hand. The front top zip could do with having a camlock, as it tends to come down by itself. The pockets are spacious and well placed for if you have a harness. The jacket is warm, breathable and very comfortable. I got mine on a price match so more than happy. Thank you Go Outdoors.

Amazing!!, 23 April 2014
By Jack (Stafford)
Its an amazing Jacket. The design is really good, huge pockets are practical and it is very warm! Packs away very nicely, and i like the hood design, it doesnt get in your way. I'm usually a medium/large, but i brought the jacket in XL, and its a good fit with some movability. I climb in it, and it is rugged, i was worried id it caught on anything, it would rip, but it doesnt! 10/10

Bought primarily for hiking/climbing in the Brecon Beacons/Black Mountains it has now turned into my main go to two season jacket. The fit and styling is superb and perfect when scrambling, hiking or climbing, It's warm, windproof and rain resistant ideal for the British Autumn/Winters. It also looks good with a pair of jeans down the pub. Very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.
