Wide-fitting walking shoes for everyday walks on defined paths.
The Meindl Philadelphia GTX
is designed with a wider fit than their standard shoes, for a comfortable and spacious fit.
It boasts a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane, keeping your feet dry inside without stifling them or causing moisture to collect and cause friction and discomfort.

Love them...but..., 15 October 2016
By Ali (Edinburgh)
Had these about 18 months. At the time, Go-Outdoors stocked half sizes so 9.5 perfect fit for my wide (F fitting) feet. However I'm told no longer stock half sizes!! Very comfortable, good to wear and lots of support. The most comfortable shoes I'd had. However, stitching started to come apart on both shoes after about 15 months and I was afraid sole would start to split from upper. I hadn't realised I'd had them so long so I bought some glue and "fixed" it. So far so good, got another few months out of them. These are Nubuck leather, must admit I used Dubbin and traditional shoe polish on them to turn them back into leather. Worked a treat but the Nubuck finish does look classy when new as long as you stay away from the mud. I'd buy another pair but 9 is too small and 10 too big. Come on - get the half sizes in stock again! I'd have given 5 stars but for the stitching.
Comfortable but short lived, 01 August 2016

Bought my first pair about 14 months ago. It was an easy decision to make because they were so comfortable. As with other reviews the disappointment came when the stitching attaching the material around the front of the shoe disintegrated. Bought a replacement pair which have also failed in the same manner after 7 months. On average, I used the shoes to walk the dog about 5 miles a day so I guess you can expect around 750 miles out of them if you use them in all weathers as I have done.
If you want absolute comfort over longevity then these are an excellent choice. However, I have now bought a pair of Scarpa Cyrus GTX which although comfortable are not quite in the same league as the Meindl ...... though I'm hoping they may last a bit longer!

As others have also found, my shoes have started to fail around the toes and leak when walking through wet grass. I only ever use them for walking my dogs, and yet they lasted only six months.
I'm running out of brands to try, now. Are there any manufacturers out there who want repeat business any more?
Comfortable but, 09 May 2016
I bought these shoes to replace a very good pair of Scarpa boots and they have been a massive disappointment. I've only worn them a dozen times over the last 5 months and they're not fit for purpose.
1. They leak. I got wet socks every time I stepped in a puddle.
2. The shoelaces are already fraying. Given the low use I've given them, that is just ridiculous.
3. The base is brown so you can't see if there's mud in the tread. This makes cleaning your shoes after a walk more difficult.
4. The tread is too narrow so small stones constantly get trapped in there. This is annoying on walks and it has damaged my wooden floor.
I cannot recommend these shoes. Yes, they're comfortable to wear, but as a walking shoe they're absolutely unsuitable and the build quality is substandard.

A great pair of shoes which i`ve inadvertently given a harder life than they should have had as we moved house not long after I bought them and found myself doing dusty and renovation work in them - not just walking. Having said that though, I`ve had them 18 months, stitching is only just starting to show signs of compromise. The soles are wearing on the heel due to my gait, but my word, they`re comfy!!
