Marmot's classic waterproof shell, now updated to be more breathable than ever.
Engineered to keep you dry and comfortable even in the heaviest rain, you can rely on the Marmot PreCip Jacket whether you're walking in the hills or tackling the daily commute.
Updated using Marmot's innovative NanoPro fabric, it is fully waterproof, extremely breathable and stretches with you as you move.
Its full visibility roll-up hood, with integral collar, keeps you sealed in without getting in your way, and the jacket is 100% seam taped to ensure total waterproof protection. A double storm flap, with snap/hook and loop® closure, stops draughts and moisture from penetrating the front zip.
Marmot's clever Angel-Wing Movement™ design gives you the freedom to move your arms in any way without the jacket riding up and losing you coverage.
The chest pockets are positioned so they'll still be accessible even when you wear a rucksack - no need to unload yourself just to get to your phone!
An elasticated drawcord hem seals you in from the bottom, and the DriClime® Lined Chin Guard, made from moisture-wicking fabric, protects your face from the zipper and keeps you comfortable and snug.
NanoPro™: 100% Nylon Ripstop Stretch 2.2 oz/yd - Waterproof & Breathable Stretch Fabric, up to 140 percent more breathable than previous technologies, allowing for the stop-and-go functionality you need for alpine endeavours.

Marmot precip jacket, 24 August 2016

I wore this jacket on a 6 hour walk in medium rain showers. I'm unsure whether it let in rain or kept in moisture but I was saturated. I now use it as a packable jacket for protection from light showers and have gone back to my Rab jacket when I know the weather will be wet
Breathable......haha, 27 May 2016

A different perspective, 07 April 2016
In contrast to other reviewers of this item, I found the jacket to be extremely poor. I was walking in Scotland (Munros) and basically found the breathability to be non-existent. It didn't rain at all, yet I found the lining of the jacket to be soaked from sweat that had not escaped. The down jacket I had beneath also suffered due to the lack of breathability of the outer garment. Okay for around town - useless for strenuous activity. Very poor. Very disappointed.

Purchased on 27 Dec 2015. Since then I have worn the jacket on 5 occasions, all for short walks of around 2 hours. The weather during each of these walks has been wet and cold. The first from sea level a sharp ascent to around 250m and then a slow descent back down, heavy rain and hail with strong to gale force winds throughout and temp around 3C. Second a low level walk, light rain, light winds and around 5C. Third, a forest walk, onto the beach with light to moderate rain and mostly sheltered. Fourth a repeat of the first route but lighter winds and the odd shower and yesterday a forest walk in light rain and no wind to speak of, with steep ascent to bare tops at around 350m.
Each outing I wore a base layer and micro fleece mid under the Marmot and on each occasion, whilst feeling no discomfort, the mid layer and the inside of the jacket were soaking wet and items in the pockets were sodden at the end of the walk.
I like it because it is light and packs down really small, it is waterproof inasmuch as it doesn't let water in, I'm pretty sure and windproof, keeping me warm whilst walking. Although there aren't enough pockets and nowhere really suitable for a map & compass that hasn't been a problem on my short excursions. However, breathable??? I don't think so
