I have resisted buying a helmet for some time. However this helmet is so lightweight, breathable and comfortable there was no more excuses. A recent witnessing of rockfall at Buckstone How at the Lake District got me thinking of how reckless I have been. On single pitch I don't usually use it if I have climbed the route before, but it's good to know when I get on a new/hard route that my helmet won't hold me back.

Meteor III Review, 29 August 2011

I've owned several Petzl helmets, an Ecrin and an Elios, so had no hesitation in buying another. I was attracted by the low weight and venting of the meteor. I first used this on Tower Ridge and frankly was very impressed. The helmet sits very well on my head with no movement. I'd hoped that it would be light weight and well vented and i have not been disappointed. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another and look forward to putting it through it's paces this winter. It's got loads of adjustability so i shouldn't think popping a hat under it will be any bother.

Ultra light, comfortable helmet., 31 January 2010

I spent some time looking into helmets when I bought this and at the time it was the lightest available and I think it still is. It is very well ventilated and very comfortable even with a beanie or balaclava. The weight difference is very noticable compared to other helmets such as the Grivel Salamander or the Petzl Elios which was a good thing in either the alps or a local crag. Fortunately I've not had to test it out with an impact to the head yet so I can't comment on that!
