The UK's fastest growing outdoor retailer GO Outdoors (www.gooutdoors.co.uk) has revealed a 25.1% increase in sales over Christmas and New Year.

The increase compares like-for-like figures in the eight week period up to and including 17th January 2010.

The figures round off a tremendous period of growth for GO Outdoors during which they opened seven new superstores in Basildon, Basingstoke, Cardiff, Harlow, Pudsey, Newcastle and Stockton on Tees in just 12 months.

In 2009, the retailer enjoyed more than 8 million customers as it grew to 18 outdoor superstores throughout the UK with seven new superstore openings. In the process, GO Outdoors created more than 350 new jobs both in stores and at its head office in Sheffield - with the total number employed nationally now standing at more than 1000.

And GO Outdoors has already confirmed it will open its nineteenth store in Clydebank in March, with a further six more new stores expected to open in the next six months taking the total number of GO Outdoors stores to 25.

GO Outdoors managing director John Graham said,

"We are delighted to reveal these outstanding trading figures. Christmas has been a stunning success for our stores. Our already-impressive results have exceeded all expectations.

"The annual turnover improvement reflects our massive rate of expansion along with the UK's increasing interest in outdoor activities and home-based holidays.

"GO Outdoors continues to be the only UK outdoors retailer with an active expansion strategy - opening massive themed outdoor superstores throughout the UK. And these figures are a spectacular endorsement of our unique outdoor retail offering."

GO Outdoors has also launched of a new retail management recruitment drive. The retailer is now seeking 30 new store managers over the next 2-3 years, with 150 store management and warehousing team roles in total. Everyone, from ambitious managers with retail experience through to retail management graduates, is urged to get in touch via the website at www.gooutdoors.co.uk/careers
