This is the footprint (under groundsheet layer) for the Vango Icarus 500 (2011 model).
This keeps your groundsheet clean and protects it from abrasion, rips and tears that may occur on rough ground.
The footprint should be covered completely by the tent to prevent rain from pooling underneath your groundsheet.

We have just returned from a rain soaked camping holiday in Ireland where the entire campsite became waterlogged. After 5 days we could feel the ground under the tent squishing as we walked around the living area of the tent, and I was convinced that the footprint would have succumbed and drowned in the mudbath, allowing the floor of the tent to be soaked.
Oh me of little faith!!!
When we took the tent down (during a 15 minute intermission in the constant downpour), we were amazed to find the floor of the tent outer was still entirely dry, and the footprint had proved a completely waterproof barrier to the quagmire below. I will never camp without a footprint again!
Sadly I can't report the same benefits from the Vango Icarus 500 itself, as it had leaked in 5 separate places in the living area through the trip. To give Go Outdoors their due, after showing video footage of the leaks they offered an unconditional refund. Now looking for a better option.

I thought this would be useles as the tent already has a groundsheet but i got as i got a price match from Go.
I used it and realized its purpose.
If it rains or if it doesnt the ground sheet is usualy always wet or dirty so with this down you can roll up your tent and it will be clean and dry keeping your fly sheet clean when you roll it up.
Get one.

No more packing your tent away and getting the canopy dirty or having to wipe down the base before packing, this solves everything and also protects the base of your tent by giving it that additional barrier.
