great little tent but...., 23 September 2011

ok ive used this tent for a while now, its easy to erect (even in strong winds), it certainly is weather proof, so it keeps you dry. the ventilation is good and you can even cook in the porch bit if you need to, i know your not supposed to but who fancies cooking their dinner in the rain... not me.
however, this is classed as a backpacking tent, but i feel the pack size is too big and the weight is too heavy, the length of the packed size is so long it wont fit in my 60+10 rucksack. you can get round this by packing the poles and pegs seperatly, and just stuffing the tent into the bottom of your pack. but even this takes up cosiderable room.
if you really want to see a proper backpacking tent then look at the hilleberg akto or the terra nova laser comp, but bear in mind these are priced from £350 - £400 but weigh in between 1 - 1.5 kg.
so in a nutshell yeah its good, but not really a backpacking tent.
cheers

I did a lot of research and wanted something reliable and which didn't weigh too much as was planning some backpacking exercises in 2010. Being a novice to the outdoor life at the time i knew it was important that pitching had to be easy. This does not disappoint and I was able to set up on my own within 20 mins the 1st time i tried it. Plenty of room for 2 people provided you both travel light and the porch has ample room for you to store your ruscksacks and cook! . I haven't looked at other tents since buying this one and it's like my most trusted friend. Great value for money!

i love this tent, its small and fairly lightweight. Very easy to put up even in high wind. pitched outer first so gets you out of bad weather quickly. allloy poles and reinforced stress points makes it feel high quality. Guylines fixing points are reinforced and there are enough to make it feel stable. I slept in it with wind and constant heavy rain for an over night stay and it was bone dry inside, no condensation or leaks. Ventilation was helped by leaving only the mesh door zipped in the inner tent. I also used an extra groundsheet. plenty of useful pockets inside. good sized porch for rucksack. Loads of room for me by myself but it might be a little too cosy for 2 with equipment aswell. Overall a great tent, very pleased and by far the best value for money ive come across for this type of tent.
