Features
Super-sturdy and ultra-lightweight, a backpacker's 2 man tent for extreme conditions.
- Quick and easy to pitch
- Semi-geodesic
- Stable against the elements
When you're out backpacking your tent needs to be easy to carry, there when you need it, but out of sight and mind when you don't.
The North Ridge Sphinx is ideal for packing and pitching without thinking. Whatever time you crash out after a day of hiking or exploring, the Sphinx can be up in minutes.
Built to be stable, the Sphinx is ideal for a variety of terrains and weather conditions, and is just as able to be standing after a gusty evening in the mountains to a temperate summer sleep on flat land.
A hydrostatic head rating of 10,000mm on the groundsheet means you stay perfectly dry, whilst the semi geodesic style adds extra support.
The Sphinx is a 2 berth style, ideal for adventurers that want a tent that can last season after season.

I use this tent mainly in Snowdonia or Peak district and has seem some pretty bad weather and is very very stable - a lot more room than you think especially headroom :) Similar to another very expensive make tent- Get one today
quality tent, 02 August 2011

I bought this tent to go back packing. Its light weight, very well constructed and simple to put up. The design is very sturdy. Its spacious for one and snug for two people. I note its of similiar design to a much more expensive brand. So dont be put off that North Ridge isnt one of the big multinational brands. This tent is excellent, well designed, and very well constructed.

The only reason im giving this tent 4 stars and not the 5 is because off the pegs, if you want complete piece of mind when you find yourself out in the severe elements of nature like I have, i.e. 100mph plus winds, thundering downpours and severe snow blizzards...buy a higher spec of peg for this tent. Everything else is A1+ about the Sphinx, its geodesic shape design, 5000 Hydrostatic Head, 10.000 Groundsheet (Yes Ten Thousand), Fire Retardancy, High Quality Poles, Guys Ropes, Tension Straps, Zips, Ventilation System, Pack Weight etc are absolute outstanding. This is a hardcore 4-season tent for sure, it states to being a 2-man tent although I can assure you this would be snug, forget the backpacks they would need to go in the porch…It’s a one man luxury for definite. As mentioned previously change the pegs to a higher spec and camp overnight wherever you wish on the planet because this baby is guaranteed to look after you 100%.
If you want complete peace of mind take no chances and get the North Ridge Sphinx, it will never you down, I have seen tents of this spec for £300 plus, don’t think...Buy!!
