Probably the best of its kind, 12 March 2016

At about 58mm length, this opener is a little longer than the usual P38 or P51 openers, and is possibly why it works so well. I don't think I've used one as easy as this, and for the price, you'd be mad -if you carry canned food on your hikes- not to have one of these in your kit as a back up, in case your usual can opener breaks or the tab on your pull-tin snaps off.
I know people don't use canned food so much in these days of laminated pouches, but these things are so small and light, it's worth carrying one just in case you come across a can at some stage while away from home.
It is so good I don't bother packing a regular opener now, I carry at least two of these with me, they are so small as compared to any other opener. Even tough hardy cans can be opened using a glove for more grip and leverage.
I permanently have one of these attached to my keyring too - just put a bit of twin-stick tape under the cutter to stop it inadvertently opening in my pocket.
As a nice touch these also have a bottle opener cutaway too!
Very good, could be better, 22 May 2013

I lost the one like this that I have had for nearly 40 years. I bought another in a pack of two from "another" outdoor shop only to find it was a). not sharp and b). made of the softest steel going. So even after carefully sharpening the blade, the main body bent rather than piercing the tin: never mind opening it
This pair do actually work and on a surprising variety of tin styles.
For a small increase in price it should be in stainless steel after all it does come into contact with food: blade in18/8 (hard) the main body in EN58 (pressing quality) with a deeper ridge for added stifness.
Until I find such a one, this will do the job.

once you figure out the best way to use these little marvels there impressive, they do rust if you don't rinse and dry them straight away, attaching some string through the hole will avoid loosing them in grass, but I can open a tin faster with one of these than any of the other types I have tried over the years, the only down side is if your a lefty they take some getting used to
