Made of Nylon and 8cm double density foam, the Grivel Crash Pad
is a good-size bouldering mat that will soften any surprise landings (and planned ones too).
Simple handles and shoulder straps make it easy to transport, and the buckles are metal to ensure they stay shut while being carried.
- Open size: 125 x 90cm
- Closed size: 62.5 x 80cm

Grivel Boulder mat, 30 March 2016

A solid little mat which fits squarely in a car boot and carries well, perfect for explorative bouldering in Scotland. Stiff and good for circuits as much as low sitters.
A great first bouldering mat, 19 November 2013

I bought this about a week ago to take on a bouldering trip to the lakes. It's only seen a couple of uses so I can't comment on how hardwearing it is, but everything else about it is fantastic.
For starters it looks great, but it's also got a few nifty features which make it very functional. The gear loops on the back are a really clever touch, you can clip your chalk bag and shoes to them eliminating the need to take a bag, or you can even attach a small day sack. The buckles that keep the mat closed when you're carrying or storing it seem pretty chunky and the straps on the front that let you carry it like a rucksack work well and are comfy (ideal for those long walk-ins.)
The greatest feature of all however is the price, this mat is a real bargain, and in particular a great starter mat for the (like me) beginner boulderer.
A couple of small niggles, firstly this isn't the thickest mat going, so if you're planning any highballing you might want to look again. Secondly while the shoulder straps are comfy and solid when they are in use, they tend to detach from the mat when you're not using them which can be a pain if you take the mat off your back for a second to grab some water etc.
However these are pretty small niggles for the price and I'd wholeheartedly recommend this mat.
