An amazing value tent for six people, ideal for first-time family camping and great for festivals.

The Freedom Trail Kanaka 6 is  a simply-pitched tent for 6 with a face-to-face bedroom layout, giving you plenty of sheltered storage space for you and your camping gear.

Ideal for family camping and great for groups of festival-goers, it has 2 separate bedrooms with a central living area that has a removable groundsheet. You can use one of the breathable inner bedrooms as a storage area if there's only two or three of you, or spread out and have a bedroom each if you're a couple!

Its tunnel-style construction mean it's very easily pitched, using the colour-coded fibreglass poles and plentiful guyl;ines.

The large side doors (with window and mesh venting) allow for full ventilation, and the curtains give you privacy when you need it.

Kanaka 6 - Serious design flaw in the tent poles., 18 September 2015
By Rick (Newent)
Used this tent for two weeks during August. After the first week different sections of three of the poles split down the middle (fixed temporarily with Gaffer tape) and one of the bedrooms started to tear.

It did however stand up to torrential rain and howling winds on the second week, and the bedrooms stayed dry and draught free.

Took it back to Go Outdoors in Gloucester, and although outside the 28 day refund period and despite the poles not being included in the warranty they gave me a Gift voucher for the full amount.
Will buy a steel poled tent from them next year.

Kanaka 6, 25 August 2015
By Chut (Newcastle upon Tyne)
My first tent found it great had heavy rain one night and howling wind the next both times the tent stood up to all thrown at it by the weather if I have one critical point it's the separate ground sheet in the middle would have been a perfect 5 stars if this had been a fitted one as a bit rain did end up on that but the bedrooms which are sealed and fitted were perfect

Great family tent., 24 August 2015
By Stina (Cardiff)
We've just returned from our first week away in this tent.

We found it easy to pitch, even with the 'help' of the 3 and 6 year old. Having had a practice pitch in the garden before we went we had it fully erected in around 40 minutes with minimum fuss, taking it down at the end of the trip was equally easy. It also packs away into a relativly small bag for transport, though it is heavy.

It has plenty of room in the sleeping pods, for two singles/ a double and bags. The central area also has plenty of space to stand and sit and eat at a small table etc in poor weather. It it tight putting up the sleeping pods and there are pressure points that need to be watched, though it seems these would vary each time it was pitched.

It remained waterproof through the traditional rainy camping weather and survived a night of heavy winds with no problems.

It's sold as a six man, but it would be a very tight squeeze with more than two adults and 3 children, for our family of four it was a perfect size.

It would benifit from a loop to hang a lantern in the central area for evening use, and poles to hold the door out as a porch for cooking etc, though we have purchased these separately for our next trip.

Overall a good buget starter tent for a small family, it probably won't last many years, but as a first step in to camping it's ideal.

Kanaka a waste of money, 23 August 2015
By Manxman1 (Isle of Man)
Avoid this tent at all cost ,
Very poorly made and a waste of money
We have just bought this tent and we were only camping for 1 night ,
When putting the tent up 3 off the poles split , luckily I brought duct tape , when I put the inner tents up the seems on the tents were ripping ,
I am very unhappy with this kanaka 6 ,
I am only giving 1 star because there is no option to give no stars ,

extremely poor quality, 23 August 2015
By Cloggs (Ashford)
bought this and used for 1 night and the poles split right down the middle so had to leave a day early, my son was very upset, went back to go outdoors and they said even tho I'm within my 28 days warranty they don't cover tent poles breaking!!! I wasn't impressed having spent money on something I couldn't use from day one. Eventually they said we could have store credit and I have upgraded to a better one now with thicker poles. Hopefully I won't need to go back again.
