Great shoes but check the sizing, 29 July 2014
By Dorftrottel (Coventry)
Went to GO in Coventry to get some Merrell Moab shoes but they just didn't hit it with me. Saw these 5:10s and, although I'd never heard of them before, thought I'd give them ago. I love them even though they have a bit of an "off the wall" design. They took a bit to break in (unlike my Merrell Moab boots) but now they're pretty comfortable. Take care on sizing though. I am a UK 9 and had to go up to a UK 10. Would have got 5* if they were Gore-tex
By Peacey (Doncaster)
Bought these after months of searching for a replacement to my ever faithful NF Hedgehogs and wanted more of an approach shoe than anything else.
I've worn Mammut Redburn GTX but find they don't offer the comfort of these new 5:10's and as I didn't want Goretex these ticked all the boxes.
I had a shopping list including the Tennies and 2 other Scarpas but these felt instantly right and fit brilliantly !!
Good all round approach shoe, 05 June 2014
By Ben (Exeter)
A good solid approach shoe with a sturdy and comfortable heal cup and sole ideal for walk-ins to climbs or mountains but equally good for everyday use.
Have found the two grades of rubber used in the sole offer good grip on scrambles and climbs but also good grip on loose terrain.
Excellent - but NOT FOR SAND!!, 30 March 2014
By Walker (Oxfordshire)
Loved these shoes - had 2 pairs now. They stick like glue to rock and are great for summer hill walking. Both pairs suffered from the same problem though - if you walk in deep, fine sand it gets into the lining of the toe box and makes the shoe too small to get your foot in. Once it's in it seems impossible to shake back out. The only solution I could find was to slit the lining with a knife - damaging the shoe.
Exceeded expectations by a mile, 20 March 2014
I bought these for approaches and scrambles to an from rock climbs. I previously wore Mammut Redburn Pro approach shoes but they never really felt very secure while scrambling.
I decided to go to an indoor climbing wall to test how well they were likely to perform while scrambling and i have to say I was impressed!
These shoes were able to easily cope with 5+ and 6a climbs (which is my limit - so they can probably go beyond this). I felt instantly confident in them. They obviously aren't as good as a pair of rock shoes - but they perform outstandingly for a pair of approach shoes.
They edge and smear really well and while there is a little rotation while edging, its fairly minimal when laced up tight.
Very pleased and cant wait for the weather to improve so that i can try them out properly on a nice long scramble.
