Very pleased, 23 May 2016
By Simon (Bristol)
Just back from 4days on Pennine Way in mixed weather and with these brand new boots after a recommendation from a friend. So pleased very comfortable all round just a little initial irritation with the tongue moving but no blisters or rubs! Just a little dampness in boot on last day to toes from lots of ground water and some deep peat immerssion
Disappointing, 19 November 2015
I bought a pair of these boots just over 2 years ago and they have started leaking. A small split in the leather close to the sole is the main cause. Had a chat with Go Outdoors who couldn't do anything as it was outside the warranty period. Suggested I contact Salomon direct who just said sorry, they couldn't do anything either. I expected more for a £130 boot which has only been lightly used.

I have had these boots now for over 2 years and they are the best boots I have ever owned, certainly the most comfy worn with good socks. I have used them walking in the rain forests of Malaysia to the Outer Hebrides on pathless mountains and they have stood up well. I have not had any problems with them leaking as others have had. My only surprise was they took a bit of breaking in which I found unusual for a fabric boot, this was mainly getting one of the tongues to sit straight, but once it did the boots were fine. I only now don't use these boots in all but the harshest of conditions were I then use Scarpa Manta's.
comfy but un reliable, 10 May 2015

i purchased my first pair oif these boots on the recommendation of the sales assistant after explaining that i walk around ten miles per day whatever the weather with 4 huskies that pull like mad so i am constantly putting pressure on the boots to slow rather than walking as you would normally expect to.
the first pair split around the toe area after just 4 months and where exchanged under warranty by solomen without quibble, disappointing start but maybe it was a rogue pair !.
well no it seems not as the replacement pair have now split along the same area and also along the welds across the sole at the toe area.
very very disappointed with these boots that still have extremely good grip left in them but are completely unusable.
not good from a company with such a good name as solomen.
Salomon Comet GTX, 31 March 2015

Not waterproof! I paid £130 and expected dry feet after purchasing a £30 pair which were not waterproof either.
The latter pair even had little metal tags declaring their waterproof status.
The Salomons are not only leaky, but if you look closely at these (and others in their range) it is easy to spot imperfections in the glued joins.
This may or may not be a contributing factor but it was enough to out me off.
Now trying Scarpa Terra GTX
