A true do-anything, go-anywhere adventure bike that's most at home off the beaten path. Touring bike, cyclocross bike, gravel racer? You decide!

The Calibre Dark Peak is built around a super strong alloy frame made with lightweight, double-butted 6061 tubing. Each junction is beautifully hand-welded to a smooth, seamless finish. Frame geometry is designed for comfort and stability on endurance rides in rough terrain, with a longer wheelbase and a relaxed rider position. A carbon fibre fork complements the alloy frame perfectly, keeping weight low and helping to soak up vibrations for extra comfort on long rides.

True to its long-distance intentions, the frame is fitted with 3 bottle cage mounts so you can stay hydrated while miles away from civilisation. It's great for cyclocross, bikepacking, touring and commuting, providing plenty of scope to add racks for carrying extra cargo.

Rough roads require tough wheels, and the Dark Peak's wheels certainly are tough. The WTB ChrisCross 19 rims are constructed from a proprietary aluminium alloy that's 20% stronger than the 6000 series alloys usually found in bike wheels. These wide rims works fantastically at low pressure and they're also tubeless-compatible if you want extra puncture protection. Lining the wheels is a pair of WTB Nano 40mm tyres which have taken the US gravel race scene by storm with their fantastic balance of high traction and low rolling resistance.

Powering the wheels is a new-for-2015 Shimano Tiagra 10-speed drivetrain with an FSA Vero Cross Compact 46/36T chainset and a 12-28T cassette providing a huge spread of gears for varied conditions. Tiagra components just keep getting better with trickled-down technology coming from Shimano's pro-level groupsets and the new Tiagra is almost indistinguishable from its higher-end siblings with fast, smooth shifting from its integrated STI levers.

Powerful Tektro Lyra mechanical disc brakes with 160mm rotors take care of braking duties with aplomb, shining at high speeds and in difficult weather. The Dark Peak comes fitted with additional cross-top brake levers as standard for extra control and peace of mind in different handlebar positions. A host of high-quality branded kit finishes off the build with alloy handlebars, stem and seatpost coming courtesy of Ritchey and Selle Royal providing their super comfy Seta Saddle.

Adventure bikes are one of the biggest trends in the cycling industry over the last few years and for good reason. These ultra-versatile machines are the ultimate one-bike choice for intrepid cyclists taking on long distances over varied terrain.

Don't let the drop handlebars fool you: an adventure bike's big tyres and sturdy frames are easily capable of off-road exploration as well as high speed on tarmac. They are great for cyclocross, gravel racing, touring, commuting... the only real limit is your own imagination!

Great Value, 04 October 2016
By Rob M (Surrey)
I used this bike for a week of cycling and camping, taking it on roads and bridlepaths across the south of England. It's great having the disc brakes and plenty of mounting points for rack, mudguards and water-bottles together with lots of hand positions on the drop bars. It coped well with some uneven terrain on Dartmoor and ate up the miles on the roads. Only reason I've marked it down a star is that it could really do with some lower gearing. If it's loaded up with kit then you run out of gears pretty quickly on the hills. With minimal kit the gears are fine, but with some lower gears it would be fantastic and a true do-everything bike. Great though for rides which will involve a mixture of on and off-road cycling, and you can put a rack and mudguards on for commuting as well.

Awesome Ride, 03 October 2016
By Peacey (Doncaster)
I decided to get this bike as an alternative ride to work instead of using the mtb all the time and what a bike it is.

Rolls incredibly well on the 700x40c tyres and handles the trails pretty well too when I fancy heading off road on the way home.

Tiagra shifts smoothly and the brakes stop pretty well once worn in.

All in all a very well thought out ride and thanks to Doncaster for the great service

By bikingchocomania (York)
I absolutely love this bike!!! fast, nippy, nimble..........everything you could want in a bike that is a great all rounder. Last time I enjoyed cycling was my 20's. 25+ years on, wow. The passion has returned.
great staff service at the York branch too.

One bike to rule them all?, 22 March 2016
By AJ (Derby)
i needed a bike that would allow me to commute in the winter on the roads giving me a bit more comfort than my summer race bike on Derby's horrible roads and i liked the idea of this bike as it could be fun riding off road as well. since buying it, its been my "go to" bike, its fast enough on the roads, and very good at soaking up the pot holes and rough road surface. but its been such a blast riding and learning to ride it off road. i've even taken it to mountain bike tracks like Sherwood Pines and its been great there

A great bike, 09 October 2015
By Stevo (Leeds)
I've done 3 rides on this bike so far, a mixture of on and off road and have really enjoyed it. The bike feels great to ride, solid and really comfortable. It also looks great.

It travels over rougher ground really well - and by that I mean bridleways, farm tracks and towpaths – but it also rolls really well on tarmac, much better than I thought it would with the wide tyres.

My other bikes are a full suss mountain bike and a road bike and since I’ve bought the Dark Peak, I’ve not been out on either of them, which pretty much says it all!
