Features

Calibre's award-winning full-suspension mountain bike, available exclusively at GO Outdoors.

Just awarded MBR's Bike of the Year 2015, the Calibre Bossnut has been designed for both newcomers and experienced riders, with geometry that's tuned for confidence-inspiring stability and able to respond sharply to aggressive riding.

This full-suspension bike will help you conquer those rough, steeper terrains that a hardtail simply can't handle, giving you plenty of scope for future upgrading as your riding progresses.

It has a double-butted aluminium frame with a smooth-welded front triangle and a single pivot swing arm designed around 130mm travel platform, giving an ideal amount of suspension for all-round trail riding.

The RockShox Sektor Silver Solo Air fork and the Monarch R rear shock offer plush air-sprung suspension with rebound adjustment, the front fork being lockout-equipped for efficient pedaling when suspension isn't required. The rear shock maintains traction over rough ground, giving you greater control of your bike and letting you power through terrain that would previously have you grabbing your brakes.

The full Shimano Deore 2x10 groupset includes a clutch-equipped Shadow+ rear mech for improved chain retention, rugged enough to take serious trail abuse whilst still providing precise, efficient performance. The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and their integrated I-spec lever design, bolts together with the gear levers for a tidy, easy-to-use cockpit.

Deore hubs and tubeless-ready WTB ST i25 rims continue the upgrading theme, allowing you to make the move to tubeless tyres with a minimum of fuss. The WTB Vigilante sits on the front wheel to provide extra control and grip while cornering, while the Bee Line's lower tread keeps the rear wheel rolling fast.

Ritchey provide their famous high-quality aluminium components for the seatpost, stem and handlebars with their Trail Rizer bars right on trend for the modern trail rider at a 760mm width.

The Bossnut Ladies is also now available, designed with a women's specific size and components. Please click here for more information.

Sounds like ball bearings in a washing machine., 10 May 2017
By Taklebury (BRACKNELL)
When I received this bike it was missing bearings in the rear wheel, the rear wheel would also hit the seat tube under full compression. My Basingstoke branch sent me out the offset bushings for the rear shock to stop the rear wheel hitting the frame. This fix gives less than a mm of clearance. I also replaced the bearings in the wheel. It now rides well however it still sounds like a washing machine with a handful of bearings bouncing around. I am tempted to run my 26 inch rims and see if that makes a difference. On smooth surfaces it rides like a dream but get it onto my local trails and it drives me nuts.

2016 bossnut purchase, 10 May 2017
By Dbanner31 (South Wales, Pontypridd)
For the price you can't complain about this bike. The spec for the money is phenomenal and the bike handles and rides like a dream. I've owned more expensive bikes of up to £2500 or so and so far, I'm finding the bossnut the best, regardless of it's crazy low price tag. I've had the bike just over a week and I love it. Ok so it could be improved here and there but it's only very minor upgrades like a better rear tyre, shorter stem, dropper post, pedals and a single narrow wide chain ring, but to be honest, that's down to personal preference and the bike is amazing without them. But, even above the £2000 range, I've not seen a bike that I've not thought about changing certain parts to improve it.

The only downside to mine is that I got it in a 19" and would of possibly preferred the 17" for the lower down tube so more clearance as I'm only 5ft 8.. Other than that, it's epic and I would definitely recommend 1 to those looking to hit the local trails. This bike can definitely handle a hell of slot more than I initially anticipated.

Awesome bike, 08 May 2017
By Skeletor (Salisbury)
my first full susser having ridden XC hardtails for years. the bike is excellent, covered in decent kit for the price, the geometry comes into its own on twisty or technical off road riding. I love this bike and its great value for money - it puts a smile on my face every time I ride it and you cant ask for more than that !

Excellent bike :), 06 May 2017
By GnarlyG (Calderdale)
This is a second review of imo a fantastic bike.

I'm 14 stone at 6ft 2 with a large. I find the suspension / shock gives me me no problems whatsoever. I've read previous reviews regarding the rear tyre hitting the seat tube, this has never happened to me. Maybe it's because I'm a big (iish) guy and I run a higher psi in the shock and forks. I find the ramp up is excellent but maybe riders 2 stone lighter on smaller sizes may bottom out / cause the rubbing issue.
Then again, it's all about the trails that you ride. I've thrown the Bossnut down the Blue Pig in Hebden Bridge loads of times, usually the bike more confident than my braking.
I'm off to Fort William in August to ride the trails especially the Nevis Red.
Totally inspiring bike that will give as much as you put into it :)

Long term review, 17 April 2017
By tc (Surrey Hills)
I've owned this bike since December 2015. At 5'11 I went for the 19inch frame. The size is spot on. I immediately installed a dropper post and converted the tyres to tubeless. The tubeless conversion was a little tricky as other have mentioned but I haven't looked back since. The bike is well balanced and perfect for the surrey hills area. Last year I discovered a little play in the rear suspension - this was quickly resolved with a trip to the Lakeside store. Apparently it was a known issue with early bikes. Towards the end of last summer I converted the bike to a single chain ring setup. Although it's fairly heavy it's still possible to spin up everything. It also became my go to bike - my full sus 29er which cost almost double the initial outlay of the bossnut gathered dust and eventually was sold to fund a new hardtail. I've very recently replaced the bars (as suggested in the recent Dirt100 review) with something longer than the stock 750mm - it's even better. Looking forward to doing many more miles this Spring/Summer.
