Take your imagination on an adventure with these books
When the day is done and you want to put your feet up in front of the fire, kick back in your camping chair under the stars, or lay out on the beach – there’s nothing finer than a good adventure story to whisk your mind away with tales of exploration and discovery. So we’ve compiled a list of some recommended books to take you on the trip of a lifetime.
Spend the night camping in Cairngorms
If you’re going to experience the great outdoors, what better way is there to do it than by camping out underneath the millions of stars – all visible in the night sky that fills the Cairngorms. Throw into the mix the possibility to see the Northern Lights at certain times and you’re all set for a brilliant time away. Check out some of our favourite campsites and other forms of outdoor accommodation:
Stay the night at one of our 10 recommended Yorkshire Dales campsites
Family camping holidays should be fun for everyone, presenting opportunities to get at one with nature. So if you’re thinking of visiting the Yorkshire Dales why not stop at one of these popular, family-friendly campsites?
There’s some things you’ll see at any UK campsite this Summer
Camping is one of the UK’s favourite pastimes. Year after year thousands of couples, families and groups of friends head off to spend time on organised campsites for their summer holidays. The early morning trek to the toilets, the onsite disco at night – some things are the same no matter which site you head to, so we’ve created some bingo cards to check off on your next camping holiday.
OEX stop by to give us a preview of their bumper 2016 offering
After our debut year in 2015 and all the fantastic feedback provided by GO Outdoors customers, we’re back for 2016 with an even bigger range than before. Since last years launch we’ve been designing brand new kit in a bid to make OEX a one stop brand for wild campers and expedition participants. The new OEX range features upgraded tents, improved tents, brand new tents, cookware, sleeping bags, rucksacks clothing and more.
There’s so much in fact that we’re going to split this into parts, and in this part we’ll be taking a look at the new tents and camping gear.
New research shows that tensions among family campers are finally being eased, due to the innovation of inflatable tents. The ability to pitch in minutes is said to be giving couples less time to argue about the instructions, and more time to relax.
With so much to see in the beautiful Peak District, you’ll likely want to spend more than just an afternoon here. We’ve rounded up our pick of 10 campsites and caravan parks, ideally located to allow you to get the most out of your trip.
As a Yorkshire based company, we couldn’t be more excited that the Tour De France is not only coming to the UK, but heading right for our doorstep. So with cycling being such a hot topic around the company, we jumped at the chance to partner up with the Yorkshire Festival of Cycling this July, and we think you should join us there.
Easter is here, and for many it is usually the start of their camping Summer. This time last year we were facing double digit heat and an early Summer, while this year – there’s still snow on the ground for a lot of the UK. Since we know a lot of you have had to cancel your camping holidays for the weekend (not everyone likes the cold) we thought we’d take to Facebook and Twitter and ask our customers, If they could take a famous person camping, who would it be and why?
In this series, we’ll be asking members of our head office staff to pick their top 5 products in specific categories for the upcoming season, to help you guys get a sense of what we’re really excited about hitting the shelves.

It’s that time of year where the Gym starts to fill up, the salads fly off the shelves in the supermarkets and the most people try to give up smoking. What was your new years resolution for 2012? Sandy rediscovers camping after a few decades
I took my first camping trip in years over to the Lakes, we had been to ‘GO Outdoors’ and got all the essentials and more ready to have a really good time. I hadn’t been camping for well over 35 years and could only remember the big white canvas tent we had with guide ropes everywhere to trip over, a bit massive ground sheet over the top of the tent to keep us dry but the rain still seemed to slip in at parts!
