Monster mirror carp breaks World Record

TOP DUTCH angler Lizette Beunders has broken the Ladies World Carp Record, with an 84 lb 5 oz monster mirror called Shoulders from Abbey Lakes in France.

Lizette was celebrating her anniversary with partner Bianca Venema when she took the gigantic fish in a shared huge haul of specimen carp on 14 acre Heron Lake on the six pool complex. Bianca chipped in with fish to ovber 54 lb.

First barbel is a monster!

TEENAGER Ronaldo Cordina proved the River Taff is one of the best barbel rivers in the country when the 13-year-old landed a 16 lb 6 oz beard while on a chub session!

The local Cardiff lad was fishing with his uncle Stuart Anderson when the specimen picked up five red maggots on a size 12 hook to an 8 lb Mustad hook length and 10 lb main line. Read more

Angling legend Frank Barlow is back!

ONE of angling’s most fondly remembered characters is about to appear in print again for the first time in 16 years.

Frank Barlow wrote for Angler’s Mail for ten years, from 1986 to 1996, before he lost his battle with cancer at the age of 53.

Over the years, Angler’s Mail has had regular letters from readers asking if there is a book of Frank Barlow’s best columns. Read more
