PROs: A very different shape to normal wires, so even where there is some overlap in size, they seat in cracks that won't take a normal wire. Particularly useful in slate and Cornish granite (even at grades lower than E-numbers), and also on harder limestone.
CONs: The small sizes aren't strong enough to take a fall, but will probably hold a careful rest onto them. Better to double them up and equalise them if you can. Also the cables are a little stiff, which can lift them out if they aren't seated perfectly. A longer quickdraw solves this (and is good practice anyway).
