Disappointed, 27 September 2016
By Al (West Yorkshire)
Like others on here, I bought these after previously owning Brasher boots. I basically wanted like for like to replace my old Brasher's as they were fantastic and because Brasher and Berghaus are now apparently one and the same I went for these.
My old Brasher's were also fabric, I prefer the light weight and flexible characteristics of fabric boots, but my feet never once got wet. First time out in these I had wet feet. And it was nothing I hadn't done in my old boots. Considering the price and the fact they claim to be Gore Tex this is very disappointing.
On the plus side they are light weight, supportive and have good grip but so do much cheaper boots.
I am now going to use these as some very expensive trainers and am going to have to buy another pair of walking boots as these will be useless in winter. Shame as I have had a few pairs of Brasher's, I'll have to find a new favourite brand and Berghaus definitely won't be it.

Bought these boots to replace my old Brasher Hillmaster 2's which had flat spotted on the soles. I've done 4 or 5, 20 mile plus walks in them so far and they have their good and bad points. On the plus side they are very light and I've found them to have good grip even on wet surfaces. The best thing about them is the soles - always used to get pressure sores on the balls of my feet past 15 miles in my Brashers - did Yorks 3 Peaks last weekend and they were perfect. On the downside if you're going walking in very wet weather or through bogs etc, then you're better off with a pair of leather boots as these take forever to dry if they get wet over the top. Also, I don't know if this is particular just to me, but the tops are quite tight - pushed a vein I have round my ankle into the bone which became painful downhill - may see if I can get a wide fitting next time. On the whole though an all round decent summer boot. As Berghaus now own Brasher I hope they'll consider using their memory foam tops like the Hillmasters - would be perfect for me!
Comfortable right out of the box, 08 September 2016

I had a previous pair of Berghaus boots, which had conventional sizing so was confident they would fiit. Comfortable right away after adjusting the position of the ortholite insole.

I've had a pair of these boots for nearly 10 years now and they are still going, they're just getting a little tatty. I have walked them inside out. The first thing I did was to go and walk through as many dirty puddles as I could to see if they would hold up and they did. Definitely a must buy.

I have had these boots for 4 years and have used and abused them a lot during spring/summer seasons - I use a Scarpa winter boot also-
I'm quite surprised at some of the poor reviews I may have been lucky or production has changed. I have had these boots in some extremely wet conditions and used them during a three day hike from glenfinnan to knoydart which has many boggy sections. They're extremely comfortable and treated with nikwax they have never let water in.
If walking through long wet grass I suggest gaiters should be used as with any boot.
All in all I got these for £70 with the price guarantee which is an absolute steal.
Use them correctly and treat them well can't go wrong.
