A pack that lets you think about your adventure, not what's on your back.
Large but slim-profiled, with a wealth of pocket options and even a top pocket that detaches to become a hip-pack
, the Osprey Aether 70 will adapt itself to a wide variety of backpacking adventures.
The IsoForm™ harness and hipbelt
provide an unparalleled range of fit, and Osprey's clever features like J-Panel access, Stow-on-the- Go™
trekking pole attachment and their suspension technology
let you concentrate more on what you're doing, and less on what's on your back.
The top pocket can be detached and converted into a convenient lumbar pack for quick use on your travels.
The 'Stow-on-the-Go' loops allow you to quickly and easily stash your trekking poles out of the way when you're on the move.
A spacious backpanel sleeve (with hanger) will easily accomodate a 3-litre or smaller hydration bladder, with slots for your drinking tube at either side of the pack.
The bright red internal compression strap lets you bundle your gear down to size, centralising the weight and making your pack more manageable.

Very comfortable backpack, 28 May 2015
I've bought this Osprey 70 recently and it got it's first test last week when I did an expedition style trek carrying tent, stove and food supply for 7 days into the beautiful Scottish highlands (awesome).
What struck me is how comfortable this backpack is to carry. When I lift up the fully loaded backpack I can feel how heavy it is. Yet once it is on my back it doesn't feel heavy at all. This proves that Osprey got the carrying system right.
One negative point though: I think the side pockets are a bit too tight. It is sometimes quite difficult to fit in a standard 1,5 litre water bottle.
I'm going on a 1 month trek in Sweden with this backpack in July so I may post a review update after that.
great to carry, 01 March 2015

Chose this because it felt best for me in the shop. It still felt good in the mountains.
I hadn't been sure whether 70L was too big but it seemed to work OK for my 'trekking' holiday.
On a critical note I kind of think Osprey maybe try to be a bit too clever with all their strappy bits and stuff. It all gets a bit complicated to the point of hindering functionality a bit. Like I don't think the zig-zag compression straps are that great, but they did the job. I wouldn't have minded some side pockets maybe too. And given that these bags will often be used for backpacking holidays I wish manufacturers put more padlockable features on their zips and closures.
Good bag though.
Well thought out comfortable pack, 24 January 2015

Great advice from Go Outdoors staff convinced me to spend a little more on my new rucksack so I went for this 70L Osprey.
Did the Malverns with it for a test walk and after some initial hip impingement resulting in some adjustments to the back system, the pack became very comfortable. I suspect that it will take on 'old friend' status after a couple of long treks as the hip belt foam moulds to me.
One niggle I have with the pack is the overly complicated compression strap system, particularly when utilising the extra female buckles on the right of the pack which seems to compress it in a lop sided way... We'll see how that goes over time.

Brought this rucksack for a five day expedition and it performed perfectly. Worth every penny! Top job Osprey.
